You Ain't Seen Nothing Like the Old Mad River!

Established in 1972, Mad River/Stowe RFC is a men's rugby club based in the quintessential New England town of Stowe, VT.  Over the next 5 decades the club has competed in the US and Quebec and is currently competing in the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU).

Once two separate clubs, Mad River and Stowe Gold joined forces in 1984.  Mad River/Stowe has competed on the East Coast and in Quebec ever since.  Through the years players from around the US and abroad have worn a River jersey with pride.

If you've played with us or against us you'll already know that while we leave it all on the field, "rugby" means much more than just a game to us.  We take pride in hosting a good jolly-up at the pitch or with one of our local sponsors. Many players have joined our club over the other Vermont rugby options because we're the hardest working club and also offer the best camaraderie. LET’S GO RIVER GOLD!

Mission:

The Mad River Stowe Rugby Football Club’s mission is to promote competitive rugby in Northern Vermont

It achieves this goal with the guidance of the following credo laying out our three main responsibilities.

Our primary responsibility is to our players and members • To support the growth of membership and community within; through weekly training and matches. Through the recruitment and development of players, coaching and leadership skills. By using club resources to create an active schedule which supports membership growth and unity and personal support when needed.

Our second responsibility is to our longevity • The club will make decisions which ensures the financial viability for its daily operations and make long term plans to ensure that future generations of players/members will improve the quality of club performance both financially and competitively. This is achieved through the formation of a treasury and leadership committee which enacts a budgeting plan and oversees our financial status and monitors club expenditures to align with the prioritized responsibilities.

Our third responsibility is to our community • When possible the MRSRFC will engage in volunteer activities for local causes and disaster response. The club will consider local charities as beneficiaries for financial donations within the rugby realm or outside to enable the success of their local missions.  All proposed charitable activities will enter a voting process which considers the previous obligations.
